Call for Applications – REEES Think Tank – Program Brochure
The REEES Think Tank invites applications from undergraduate students.
The program’s mission is to provide undergraduates from underserved and underrepresented communities with welcoming and equity-minded opportunities to help them become active in REEES and related fields. The Think Tank’s mission is to develop and advance a new generation of specialists in REEES and support innovative career paths, research agendas, and relationship-building capacity in the field. This national program is based at Howard University and is building a sustainable nationwide research and support network among students underrepresented and underserved in this field.
Program length: May 2024 – April 2025
What does the program entail? Students will:
- Create a research project with faculty mentor support
- Participate in the University of Illinois Virtual Summer Research Laboratory
- Present at the Midwest Slavic Association Conference at The Ohio State University
- Select students will also present at the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies Conference in Boston
- Learn digital humanities skills Publish a digital research project on our website (check out examples here)
- Receive a $2,500 stipend
What are the program requirements?
Think Tank scholars must be able to:
- Be available for Friday Zoom meetings from 4:00-6:00 PM (ET).
- Join in training workshops organized by the Summer Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois.
- Participate in digital humanities training workshops hosted by the Think Tank.
- Present at the Midwest Slavic Conference. Your travel to the conference is fully funded.
- Complete digital projects that will be published on the Think Tank website. There are no language requirements for this program. The program only asks that participants have a desire to learn more about this region!
