The conference will be held on November 2-4 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia.

Location: Matenadaran, Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, Yerevan

Deadline for abstracts of papers: September 15

Matenadaran (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts), in cooperation with the Institute of World Literature (Russian Academy of Sciences), and the School of Actual Humanity (Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration) will hold a conference “Commentaries to Greco-Roman and Medieval Texts: Problems and Perspectives.” An important goal of the commentary is understanding the text in all details, that is why Classical Philology has always paid special attention to the genre of commentary.

Matenadaran expects papers dedicated to any aspect of commenting on Classical and Medieval texts – interpretation of specific passages, theoretical problems, as well as to history of commentaries in Classical Antiquity and Middle Ages. A special session will be dedicated to commentaries on ancient Greek drama.
