Module description: This module provides an overview of the geography, human geography, and historically constituted politics of the Caucasus. It defines concepts of region (formal and functional), and de facto states, applying these to the Caucasus. Students will explore the geography of North and South Caucasus, the peoples who have inhabited those geo-political areas, and key moments in its history that help explain contemporary conditions.
