World Literature: The South Caucasus

Module description: World Literature is an English course that offers an introduction to classic writings organized around various national communities, considered within their historical and cultural context. In this module, geographical focus is the South Caucasus, comprised of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Given these three countries were once states of the Soviet Union until 1991, this module will consider Soviet influence on fiction writers, one from each country: Narine Abgaryan (Armenia); Akram Aylisli (Azerbaijan); and Aka Morchiladze (Georgia).
