The Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking to appoint a full-time fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in association with St Hilda’s College in Comparative Government and Politics (including Russia or the Former Soviet Union). This subject area broadly includes the study of political behaviour, political institutions and regime types. While no specific regional focus is required, a research and teaching specialisation that includes Russia or the Former Soviet Union would be an advantage. The main duties of the post will be to engage in advanced research in comparative government and politics; to direct the subject of politics and tutor undergraduates at St Hilda’s College; to contribute to Departmental teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and graduate level; to participate in College and Departmental administration; and to contribute to the examining and admissions processes as necessary. Office space and other facilities will be provided in the Department of Politics and International Relations. The postholder will be affiliated with St Hilda’s College.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a relevant subject area and will have a strong record of independent research and publication at an international level. The ability to provide excellent class and tutorial teaching to high-achieving and challenging students is essential. The postholder will require good communication, interpersonal, pastoral and organisational skills.
