


{"id":11505,"date":"2024-07-15T23:34:02","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T23:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arisc.org\/?p=11505"},"modified":"2024-07-15T23:34:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T23:34:03","slug":"cfp-international-conference-joint-meeting-cess-escas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arisc.org\/?p=11505","title":{"rendered":"CFP: International Conference <<Geopolitics, Migrations and Identities in Central Eurasia>> (Joint Meeting CESS-ESCAS)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>Lisbon, January 8\/10, 2025<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In-person only<\/em><\/strong><br>In January 2025, Lisbon will host the&nbsp;<em>Joint Meeting&nbsp;<\/em>of the CESS (<em>Central Eurasian Studies Society<\/em>) and the ESCAS (<em>European Society for Central Asian Studies<\/em>) &#8211; an International Conference on \u00abGeopolitics, Migrations and Identities in Central Eusasia\u00bb. We hope that this initiative will help bringing Central Eurasian studies to the forefront of global academic discourse.&nbsp;We invite submissions relating to all aspects of humanities and social science scholarship across Central Eurasia &#8211; a diverse region that encompasses Central Asia, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Mongolia, Siberia, the Black Sea region, and the Volga region.<br><strong><u>Draft Program<\/u><\/strong><br>On Tuesday afternoon (January 7), the&nbsp;<em>Joint Meeting<\/em>&nbsp;will be preceded by a symbolic event: join us in an interconfessional and ecumenical Ceremony for Light and Peace, hosted by Lisbon Patriarchy; to participate in this propitiatory event of Forgiveness, Tolerance and Good Will have been invited representatives of all major religious communities of Eurasia &#8211; Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews &#8230; After this spiritual moment, the&nbsp;Welcome Dinner (offered by the organization) will celebrate the Cuisines of Portuguese-speaking countries and territories: a buffet of food from Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, &#8230;&nbsp;<br>The first day of this Conference &#8211; Wednesday, January 8 &#8211; will take place at the Gulbenkian Foundation; after the&nbsp;Opening Session, it will be entirely dedicated to discuss the EU relations with the Caucasus and Central Asia countries: Bilateral and Multilateral Partnerships, Cooperation Agreements, Geopolitical Issues&#8230; We are preparing an event bringing together scholars and academic experts from different geographies, and senior staff and politicians from the EU, the Caucasus and Central Asia countries.<br>The second and third days of the Conference &#8211; Thursday and Friday &#8211; will be hosted by the ISCSP &#8211; Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Campus da Ajuda). The University is one of the oldest European higher-learning institutions (created in the 13th century), and several Faculties and Institutes are in the World&#8217;s top-100 in their fields. On January 9, the day will end with a Wine Reception.On Saturday morning &#8211; January 11 &#8211; the Universidade Aut\u00f3noma will host the Conference Meetings, the Closing Session &#8211; and the Farewell Party, with amphora wine and a performance by a group of&nbsp;<em>cante alentejano&nbsp;<\/em>(Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Submissions<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Send your submission&nbsp;to&nbsp;this email address &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:jointmeeting.2025@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">jointmeeting.2025@gmail.com<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; with the title \u00abSubmission\u00bb. We will acknowledge all submissions within five days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>Papers and panels<\/em><\/strong>: In addition&nbsp;to&nbsp;individual papers (max.300 words and five keywords), we strongly encourage participants&nbsp;to&nbsp;submit&nbsp;proposals&nbsp;for&nbsp;organised panels and roundtables (max.300 words and five keywords), comprising 3\/5 participants from different universities or research institutions, one chair, and, in some instances, a discussant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>Nesting<\/em>:<\/strong>&nbsp;Are you a member of the Board of a Scientific Society, a Research Center, a Cultural Institute related&nbsp;to&nbsp;Central Eurasia? Please consider the possibility of organizing a special session only with participants from your organisation &#8211; and we can offer you a room&nbsp;to&nbsp;hold a Board Meeting or Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>Bring your&nbsp;book!<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong>Have you recently published\/edited a book?
