Smith (Purdue University)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuesday 23 June 2026 at 5pm British Summer Time (noon Eastern \/ 11am Central)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This talks is part of the BAFTSS Transnational Screens SIG online talk series &#8220;Transimperial Cinema: Film Geographies from Transcaucasus to Eurasia&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The series brings together scholars working on film history in a polyphonic region of linguistic, ethnic, and religious entanglements: the Eastern Mediterranean, the Black and Caspian Seas, the Caucasus, Anatolia, Persia, and parts of Central Asia. These were palimpsest spaces shaped by overlapping British, Russian, Ottoman, Qajar, and Soviet imperial formations.
