William Fulbright \u2013 Hillary Rodham Clinton Fellowships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Application Opens: November 1, 2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deadline: January 10, 2014, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State inaugurated the J. William Fulbright \u2013 Hillary Rodham Clinton Fellowship (Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship) in academic year 2012-13. Formerly the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship, the award was renamed to honor former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for her dedication to public service and role in the program\u2019s creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship provides opportunities for U.S. citizens to serve in professional placements in a foreign government ministry or institution in partner governments. Fulbright-Clinton Fellows build mutual understanding and contribute to strengthening the public sector while gaining hands-on public sector experience. The Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship also includes an independent academic study\/research component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulbright-Clinton Fellows function in a \u201cspecial assistant\u201d role for a senior level official. The goal of the professional placements is to build the Fellows\u2019 knowledge and skills, provide support to partner country institutions, and promote long-term ties between the U.S. and the partner country. The U.S. Embassy, with the Fulbright Commission (where applicable), will identify host ministries and provide administrative support and oversight during the Fellow\u2019s program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Candidates must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Be U.S. citizens by November 1, 2013.<\/li><li>Have a Master\u2019s level degree (MA, JD, MBA, MPA, MPH, MSW, MSc, or other) with an area of focus that is applicable to public policy prior to September 1, 2014, OR be currently enrolled in a doctoral program prior to the grant period which will commence in September 2014.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates who hold a Ph.D. at the time of application or who will hold a Ph.D. at any time during the grant period are not eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates with Medical Degrees are eligible with some stipulations, please see the FAQs below for details<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Have at least two years of full-time, professional work experience in policy-related fields.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Factors in selection of Fellows will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Academic and professional record<\/li><li>Proficiency in the local working language of the host country (additional information will be available when countries are announced). Proficiency will be determined by the application and also will be verified during the application process, which will require an interview in the host country language<\/li><li>Knowledge of the host country\/region (history, culture, etc.)<\/li><li>Personal and professional qualifications<\/li><li>Preference factors as indicated below<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preference in selection will be given to candidates with:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fluency in the local working language(s)<\/li><li>Deep knowledge of the host country\/region (history, culture, etc.)<\/li><li>A strong service orientation and a high degree of versatility, resourcefulness, and creativity<\/li><li>Applicable professional experience<\/li><li>Advanced communication skills<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Application Process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application will open on Friday, November 1, 2013. Applications submitted for the Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship prior to this date will not be reviewed.
