


{"id":6679,"date":"2019-09-30T00:19:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T00:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arisc.org\/?p=6679"},"modified":"2019-09-30T00:20:23","modified_gmt":"2019-09-30T00:20:23","slug":"cfp-armenia-byzantium-without-borders-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arisc.org\/?p=6679","title":{"rendered":"CFP: Armenia &#038; Byzantium Without Borders III"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Graduate and Early Career Workshop<\/strong><br><strong>Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna, Austria, 8\u201310 May 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline: 31 October 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within\n the framework of \u2018Moving Byzantium: Mobility, Microstructure and \nPersonal Agency,\u2019 a five-year project funded through the \nWittgenstein-Prize (<a href=\"http:\/\/rapp.univie.ac.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/rapp.univie.ac.at<\/a>),\n \u2018Armenia &amp; Byzantium without Borders III\u2019 is a three-day workshop \nfocusing on social and cultural mobility between Armenia and Byzantium \nin the Middle Ages. This workshop continues a scholarly conversation \ninitiated in April 2018 at the University of Vienna by Dr. Emilio \nBonfiglio and Prof. Claudia Rapp and now run in joint partnership with \nDr. David Zakarian and Prof. Theo Maarten van Lint at the University of \nOxford. The 2020 Workshop will be held at the Division of Byzantine \nResearch, Institute for Medieval Research, of the Austrian Academy of \nSciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\n invite advanced PhD candidates and early career scholars working in the\n fields of Late Antique, Armenian, Byzantine, and Middle Eastern Studies\n to submit proposals for 20 min. papers connected with the main topics \nof \u2018Moving Byzantium\u2019, with a focus on aspects of social and cultural \nmobility of persons, objects, and\/or ideas between Armenia and Byzantium\n throughout the Middle Ages. We are particularly interested in new \nresearch showing interaction and communication on both literary and \nmaterial grounds between the Byzantine world and the Armenians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Papers\n presented at the workshop will be accompanied by a senior scholar\u2019s 10 \nmin. response, followed by a general discussion.
