The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Director for Academic Affairs at the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES). This is a full-time, year-round role, and the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of academic and administrative duties, including:

Key Responsibilities: Promote REEES academic programs and credentials at academic fairs and events for prospective students throughout the year.Advise undergraduate and graduate students on program requirements and academic pathways related to REEES.Hire and supervise REEES student ambassadors and language tutors.Create and update materials related to credentials and advising, including advertising, websites, approved course lists, and student resources.Manage all aspects of the Academic Year (AY) and summer FLAS award competitions, as well as REEES scholarship awards in collaboration with the REEES Associate Director and Assistant Director.Facilitate student recruitment, advising, and alumni communications for Project GO and STARTALK, assisting students with orientation and enrollment processes.Serve as the faculty advisor for the Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Graduate Organization for the Study of Europe and Central Asia (GOSECA) conferences.Oversee the organization of the annual GOSECA conference.Administer the center’s scholarship programs, including issuing letters and managing REEES tuition remission funds.Maintain the center’s student database and ensure accurate record-keeping.Foster relationships with REEES alumni and coordinate annual fundraising efforts for student scholarships in partnership with UCIS Alumni & Engagement and REEES Directors.Collaborate on the planning and implementation of student co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including the International Career Toolkit Program and related events.Work with UCIS Academic Affairs and UCIS Engagement committees to coordinate and execute student-facing initiatives, such as Global Lenses and new career-training programs.Partner with academic advisors from the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and professional schools to promote courses, events, and opportunities for professionalization, scholarships, and fellowships.Participate in the assessment of teaching and learning within the center.

Job Summary

Utilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.
