The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library seeks applicants for the position of Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies Librarian. The candidate will have a strong commitment to user services, will be responsible for developing distinctive research collections, and will deliver innovative instructional, research and user services to the University and broader scholarly communities.
Reporting to the Head of the International and Area Studies Library, the Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies Librarian will provide user-centered access services in support of research, teaching and scholarship related to countries of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia and develop collections in these areas. As a subject specialist, the incumbent will serve as the primary liaison to the campus’ Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center, a Title VI designated National Resource Center.
As a member of the International and Area Studies Library faculty, the incumbent will participate proactively on Library-wide committees, task forces, and teams; collaborate with other subject and area studies librarians to develop cross-regional and interdisciplinary solutions for integrating distinctive intellectual content and services into the academic environment; and contribute to developments in the field of area studies librarianship through active professional engagement and research, presenting and publishing in appropriate venues.
