SRAS Fall 2024 Abroad and Summer 2024 Online Internships

Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2024 SRAS study abroad programs. Apply by May 1, 2024. The deadline to apply for the Online Research Internships is May 25, 2024. 

Fall 2024 Programs

Russian as a Second Language (RSL)
Study Russian language in Riga, Tbilisi, or Bishkek. In parallel with intensive language study you will learn about the history and culture of your host country through workshops, excursions, travel, and more.

Central Asian Studies
Combine intensive Russian language training with a broad overview of the cultural, social, historical, and religious dimensions of Central Asia and the geopolitical forces at play in the region. Based in Bishkek, this program includes travel to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Identity and Conflict in the Caucasus (ICON)
Combine intensive Russian language training with a study of identity in the region. In this core course they look at how identity is shaped by geography, history, media, and popular culture – and the role of identity in regional conflicts. Based in Tbilisi, this program includes travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan.

All Tbilisi-based programs (RSL and ICON)
Our semester-long Georgia-based programs offer a growing range of electives. These include: Georgia Through Film, The Intersection of Food and Politics, Georgian Language, and Internships. See the relevant program pages for details.

Summer 2024 Online Internships

Join the Summer 2024 Online Research Internship team! The focus will be on the Caucasus and the Baltics this round. The program will be taking deep dives into architecture, food, folk celebrations, and film – among other subjects related to these geographic regions. Everyone (high school students, university students, young professionals, and retirees) is welcome to apply. Students with prior travel experience and/or knowledge of Russian or local languages are especially encouraged to apply. All who complete the program will earn credits toward study abroad or online study with SRAS.
