H.E. Lilit Makunts, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States of America will share her vision for deepening relations between Armenia and the U.S. The panel will also focus on women’s empowerment as a game-changer in establishing security and fostering economic growth — bearing in mind the increasingly complex regional and world politics. 

H.E. Lilit Makunts is the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States. She previously held numerous posts within the National Assembly of Armenia, including parliamentary Majority Leader, head of the My Step bloc and head of the Armenia-US parliamentary friendship group. She was appointed as the Minister of Culture of Armenia prior to her legislative tenure, and has served in academia as a Senior Lecturer at the intergovernmental Russian-Armenian University, and as Educational Project Coordinator and Lecturer for Academy of Social Democracy through the Friedrich Ebert Foundation of Germany. A graduate of Yerevan State University, Lilit Makunts holds degrees from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages and is a Candidate of Philological Sciences. She has studied at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and has served with the Peace Corps in Armenia. She is fluent in Russian, English and German.
